Finding your Perfect Hair Stylist and Salon!
Outside Health Promotes a Healthy Inside

  1. Find the right salon Location.
Stop in a salon in your neighborhood or near your workplace. A convenient location is excellent in many cases and especially if you need   to make a last minute appointment or a change occurs in your schedule.
  1. Choose a Salon that fits your Needs.
Select 2 or 3 salons and drop in to look at some products, notice your surroundings, Is the atmosphere soothing and to your liking?
How were you greeted when you entered?
Are the hours convenient for you?
Did anyone in particular stand out or assist you, if so get their card!
Remember, First impressions are important, you’ll be returning regularly.
  1. Select a Stylist that suits your Personality.
A couple of things to keep in mind…You could ask a few people who’s hair    you admire where they go, and that works many times, but we are all different and depending on the Stylist’s ability, that could pose an issue.  A better way is to select the salon you’re comfortable with and begin asking questions:

Observe:  I suggest going along with a friend to their appointment or stop by to look at some books.  This way you can observe the Stylists in action to select someone you feel comfortable with.

Ability: Everyone has a different hair texture, make sure the Stylist is comfortable working with your hair (thick, thin, straight or wavy).

Use of Tools: If you enjoy a razor cut, make sure the Stylist is comfortable using one.  This is a biggie with me. A good sign is if they have one readily available without having to dig for it!

Other services: When it comes to additional services make sure the Stylist is confident performing that service.  Ask up front what they enjoy most: cutting, styling or chemical (perms, coloring or highlighting). It’s best to find one stylist that fits your needs but it doesn’t always work that way.  One may cut your hair perfectly but another may do awesome highlights.  It’s ok to utilize both to achieve the look you want! This goes for other services as well such as waxing or facials. If you get these services on a regular basis, find a salon that fits all your needs. This is a big time saver!

Note: If you aren’t achieving the results you desire after the second service, don’t hesitate of change Stylists or salons.  Being uncomfortable places undo stress on both of you, so making sure you have a Stylist who easily understands your needs is important in achieving a successful service
